Hoping to make contact with any distant relatives from Canada, who are now living in Australia. There were 40 Wiebe's living in Australia in 2014. Wiebe was my mother's maiden name. My mother, Reta Thiele, was originally from Canada, (before she married my father, Philip Thiele) but apparently her forebears immigrated from Russia.
Catherine the Great sent them to Canada as farmers. Before that I have been told they came from Prussia. But they were originally Mennonites from Friesland and they spoke German. Ancestry.com described the Wiebe's (and others) as "Germans in Russia" from "Germanic Europe".
My husband's mother is a Döhner (also spelt Doehner). This is her maiden name. We are wondering if there are any Döhner's or Doehner's in Australia who would like to make contact with us? My husband's parents are originally from Germany and my mother-in-law came from Pommernland, which is now part of Poland.
My husband's father is a Rasenberger. We are wondering if there are any Rasenberger's in Australia who would like to make contact with us? My husband's parents are originally from Germany and my father-in-law came from Berlin.
